Editors remorse

Editors have a huge task at hand of improving upon what an author has written without changing the meaning. It is believed that editors are the final step before the publication of the authors work be it a novel, or an article or any little piece of literature. It is also said that editors clean up the mess left after the author is finished and they are the ones who direct them what to do next. That’s the case most often than not. Manuscripts from authors come with hundreds of typos and small alterations of words which will add more meaning to what the author wants to say. It is just the enhancement of the authors written text. No matter how good the plot and the characters of a novel are, with multiple typos and without depth, it is going to push every one away from it.
The first thing that an editor needs to understand from the manuscript is the purpose of it. Sometimes the author adds a few elements in the story and forgets about it, these are spotted by the editor and the story is streamlined further. Another important aspect of being an editor is organizing the thought of the author. The authors are treasure chests filled with ideas, when in flow, they spit out whatever comes to their mind in any possible manner. This is made into presentable form by the author. The story needs to be broken into smaller and easily understandable parts. The editor looks for roughed up or jumbled ideas that may be mixed along with the main story, these just divert the attention of the reader to useless stuff hence is carefully removed without altering the main story. And in the end the simplest and the most important thing, the correction of typos needs to be carefully checked for.

Even if this is your first book, the reason for it get rejecting might be some whoppers that you have made as a beginner. Publishers’ are vary of these blunders and use them to separate good authors from normal street corner authors.

Look out for empty words that haunt your manuscript. Empty word such as blond bombshell, bloody idiots, guns blazing, etc. which are used in normal life and seen quite commonly used on the television are considered as beginners blunders. This makes that author steer away from the novel even before the plot begins to thicken. Avoid using clichés in your writing since these are considered as red flags by the editors and easy targets to be rejected among the numerous other submissions that are received. Avoid weak writing and use of vivid language that makes adverbs and adjectives into noun. Stick with English language, it is good. When writing stop the explosion of background information at the reader at any cost, even the most chaotic of situations, explain it in a structured and simple manner. Find innovative ways of storytelling and try not to confuse the reader with too much description. Choose the different viewpoints carefully, and pay close attention to their details. If you keep changing the point of view of your characters, it is only going to tell the publisher about you bad writing skills. In the end take care about the grammar and punctuation skills that you learned in your school. This can make or destroy your career in a few minutes.

Audio books are audio versions of novels that is spoken by a person. It does not have to be the author. People have taken the level of multitasking/laziness to another level by making books that can be read while jogging or working on something else just like listening to music. Audio books were first meant for blind people who could not read. Instead of a person who would regularly read books for blind people, in 1931 the government of United States set up a talking book program which was dedicated to bring books to the blind people. But now it is not just blind people who have taken up to audio books. At first audio books were just recordings of normal customers recording for a few friends, this spread to other and led to complete websites dedicated to downloadable audio books from any author. This was only done on vinyl recording mediums. The older audio books came on special mediums which needed special players to be played. After the advent of simpler and cheaper recording mediums, was it possible for the mass spreading of the audio books. This happened around the 1980’s when cassette players came with recording option. This was a time when there were audio books for every novel read by the books fan so that they can hear to it anywhere and anytime. Now publishing houses have seen the increasing popularity of audio book and are beginning to provide versions of novels in audio book forms. Along with a printed book, novels began selling cassettes and then cd’s of the book from the authors. Many tines the author of the novel herself is the voice in the audio book. But it has taken away with it the chance of starting a conversation on a train, café or a bus where another reader can talk to you about the book you are reading.

Like to Write? An Accredited College Can Help You Get Started

If you love books, you may eventually decide that you’d like to write one of them. Whether you manage to get it published traditionally, you decide to self-publish, or you keep it only for yourself, you’ll have the satisfaction of completing it. If you want to get paid to write, though, it’s important that you have the proper education. Not every novelist or even every non-fiction writer has a degree in journalism or a related field. Some of them don’t have degrees at all. Having a good education from an accredited college can help you land writing jobs, though, and allow your work to be taken more seriously.

Too many people assume that writing a book is easy. They think that their writing is spectacular, so they send out query letters to agents and publishers. When they get nowhere, they’re astounded that people can’t see their greatness. It’s not necessarily that they aren’t good writers in their ability to tell a story and their dedication to the process, but it could be that they aren’t good writers when it comes to the concept of querying. If you have a good education and have taken classes on how to write business correspondence, you’ll be better able to send a proper query and cover letter that can get you noticed.

That’s true of books, newspapers, magazines, and online publications. No matter who you are or what you’ve been through in life, if you have a story to tell you need to be sure that you’re telling it the right way. Otherwise, you might miss out on an opportunity that you would have gotten had you known the right way to ask for it. Don’t let the world do without the book that you have to write just because you aren’t sure how to get someone to notice you.
